#LillyforTarget: The Day After Pink Sunday




Why the Lilly+Target collaboration was such a success and a failure. 

First off, I have to say that when it comes to getting quality items at an accessible price, Target never disappoints. For the past 19 years,Target has been my go-to place for the latest fashion trends without the big price tag. Anyone who knows me can tell you that I am all about some Target! So when Target decided to team with the oh so fabulous Lilly Pulitzer, I was not surprised that at 3:20 a.m. Target.com shut down during my attempt to check out with my coveted high waisted fans bikini and gold wedge espadrilles in my shopping cart #ohshift! Was I salty? Yes, I had been saving my Lilly cash for weeks now. But little by little, I came to the realization that a launch of this caliber could potentially be catastrophic for myself and millions of other Lilly lovers. And just when I thought all hope was lost, Target.com came back online (now 4:00 a.m.), and I was able to secure 3 of my wishlist items.

 And since there were other items on my list, two hours later (6:03 a.m.), I found myself on the way to Target to wait for them to open at 8:00 a.m. I was number 9 in a line of close to 200 women (some boyfriends and husbands). Armed with my Redcard and my Lilly List, I was able to grab 4 items and a bonus item.

   How was the event a failure? I think that because Target underestimated how much people love Target, and just how much people really love Lilly, and the demand was simply too high for the supply. On the other hand, Target was successful because they made this "American Fashion Award" winning collaboration happen, a collaboration that was highly anticipated by women of all colors, ages, sizes, and for that I am thankful!  Yes, there are some people who are "Lillyless" today, but the there is a silver lining because the real Target and Lilly lovers will return their items within the 14 day time frame, so from me to you,
"May the odds be forever in your favor!"

What I Loved Most About This Week...

1. My Favorite Look: I went out to celebrate one of my favorite ladies for her birthday, and this was my outfit for the night. I love the white blazer (Target), my Steve Madden pumps (NordstromRack), and my pink clutch (Charming Charlie).
